Yorkshire Pictures Exhibition At Beverley Art Gallery

Beverley Art Gallery

Art Gallery is delighted to be hosting an exhibition of artwork by one of the region’s longest standing art groups – the Fylingdales Group of Artists.

Yorkshire Pictures opens at the gallery on Saturday, 18 May and runs until Saturday, 6 July. There is an open afternoon on Saturday, 25 May, 1pm-3pm, to which all visitors are welcome.

Twenty of the Fylingdales artists will be exhibiting work in the exhibition which focuses strongly on seascapes and landscapes, featuring lots of favourite Yorkshire destinations in the Dales, North Yorkshire Moors and along the North Yorkshire coast.

The Fylingdales Group of Artists held their first exhibition in Robin Hood’s Bay in the summer of 1925 with just seven artists. It is a measure of the commitment of the individual artists that the Fylingdales have continued to develop and exhibit as a group over the past 85 years.

To complement the exhibition there will be two special events at which Fylingdales artists will be working in the gallery and chatting with visitors. On Saturday, 22 June, 12noon-3pm, Christine Pybus will be working in oils. On Thursday, 4 July, 12noon-3pm, David Allen will be working with pastel. They will be sharing tips with visitors about composition, techniques and where to find that all important inspiration. No need to book, just turn up.

Admission to the gallery is free and there is a café and disabled access.
