Beverley Action Group To Hold Protest March In Town Centre

This Saturday the have organised a protest march in support of the SOS Save Our Setts Campaign.

The group has released a statement about the protest which said;

“The support for our campaign to protect Beverley has been overwhelming and for that we are very grateful.”

“It is not our intention to stop campaigning until the amend their thinking and take note. How can you help? On Saturday 22nd December, we are holding a protest march.”

“Assemble at The Market Cross 10:30hrs, for a departure at 11:00hrs along the threatened cobble setts, down Toll Gavel to the ERYC’s offices.This is all about Beverley and unites the various existing action groups.”

“Everyone is welcome, bring a banner, bring your children because it is all about protecting their future.”

“Please put the word about to your friends, the more the merrier!”

“We are very proud of Beverley, it is a unique, historic, market town. Inaction is not an option, we need your support before the developers (and the ERYC) pounce and we lose the very features that make our town so special.”

  1. Beverley is a historic town, and should retain part of its attraction, and charm.If not we might as well knock the whole town down and just have concrete buildings and neon signs. I appreciate minorities have their needs , but at what cost !

  2. I haven’t heard any mention in all this about the severe deterioration of the ‘new’ concrete sets already laid in Butcher Row & Toll Gavel. These sets are only a couple of years old & are already deteriorating at a fast rate, soon we will have thousands of pounds worth of restoration work on these paid for by the rate payers of Beverley because of a poor choice of materials by the East Riding of Yorkshire. I don’t recall any major maintenance being required on the existing sets in the market place they should be left alone.
