UK’s Fastest Fibre Broadband Service Now Available In Beverley

The UK’s fastest fibre broadband service is now available in , following its launch by local communications provider KC.

With guaranteed download speeds of 350Mbps, KC’s Lightstream 350 service is around 50 times faster than the current UK average broadband speed of 7.6Mbps*.

With 350Mbps, a typical HD movie of about 5GB in size would take a little over two minutes to download, while downloading the latest episode of The Voice from would take just 30 seconds.

The new service is available in the areas of Beverley where KC has been rolling out lightning fast Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) broadband since February.

KC’s Lightstream service has already made Beverley the UK’s broadband capital, with the fastest speeds in the country. Leading broadband speed test site Netindex.com shows the East Yorkshire market town at the top of the UK speed league table with an average download speed of 37Mbps – around five times the UK average.

During 2012, KC’s multi-million pound investment will make fibre broadband available to 15,000 homes and businesses. So far its deployment has passed 8,000 properties, with more than 20 per cent of these already switching to fibre.

Until now KC’s fastest Lightstream service has offered guaranteed download speeds of 100Mbps and 15Mbps upstream. Its existing Lightstream services deliver ‘fibre for a fiver’, starting from around just £5 more than its most popular traditional copper broadband and phone bundle.

KC’s said: “The internet is already a key part of people’s everyday lives, and the amount we use and rely on it is only going to increase. That’s why we want our customers to have the best connected homes and businesses in the UK and why we’ve launched the UK’s fastest broadband service today. What’s really exciting is that our decision to invest in Fibre To The Premises technology to deliver lightning fast broadband means we’ll be able to maintain our position as the provider of the UK’s fastest fibre broadband service in the future.

“Right now, the number of customers who feel they need a 350Mbps service is probably limited to those who want to be at the cutting edge of broadband performance. But as customers increasingly live their lives online, and as more homes access the internet not just from PCs but from laptops, Smartphones, games consoles and tablets, the need for faster speeds is increasing. Through our investment in fibre and our launch of 350 we’re providing tomorrow’s broadband speeds, today.”

The new KC Lightstream 350 service costs £99 per month with no connection fee.
