Final Stages Of Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Gardens Inspected

Final works to transform a once tired corner of New Walkergate into a beautiful garden to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee are soon to be complete and will be inspected by Councillor OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The garden, which was supported by Beverley Town Council, was designed by the council’s streetscene services and includes a commemorative stone by Columbaria Company who were commissioned to produce a central feature for the garden.

Grass, flower beds and new benches have also been incorporated to replace the broken brick work there before.

It is hoped that the area will be appreciated by visitors and residents alike and will provide a timely reminder in future years of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations that took place in 2012.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

“The new garden in Beverley looks fantastic and has transformed this former under used area into a place that everyone can enjoy.

“The Diamond Jubilee is just the start of a summer of celebration, which also includes the Olympic Torch Relay, and the addition of this garden is just one of many events and projects planned in the East Riding to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s succession to the throne.”
