Secretary Of State Eric Pickles Visits Beverley

One of the Coalition government’s biggest hitters spent the weekend in Beverley.

Eric Pickles, for Communities joined up with local MP Graham Stuart and the head of Stephen Parnaby to discuss the new with members of the town’s civic society and other members of the public.

Graham said:

“It’s great to have the Secretary of State here in Beverley and have him meet our local civic society and those from the rest of Yorkshire. They are all volunteers who care passionately about the local environment and contribute in a variety of ways to improving ’s quality of life.

The MP added:

“Eric was a successful council leader in Yorkshire and is now a voice of common sense in ’s cabinet.

I’m grateful that he accepted my invitation and is giving a chance for people in East Yorkshire to speak directly to him about the issues that matter to them.

“The Localism Bill is going through Parliament and this is an opportunity to find out how our area can benefit from changes which take power away from Whitehall and pass it to local communities.”
