How The Fox And The Hound Became The Best Of Friends

One was bred to hunt and kill the other – but now two of nature’s greatest enemies have become the best of friends.

Todd the fox and Eva the Jack Russell have put aside hundreds of years of enmity to forge a friendship that is as touching as it is unusual.

They can been seen side by side being walked on their leads in Beverley by owners , landlord at Beverley pub the , and his daughter Georgina.

Some may see it as bizarre while others may wonder at the wisdom of keeping a wild animal in their home.

But to Phil and Georgina, it’s a match made in heaven.

Georgina explained to .net just how two such seemingly incompatible animals had become so close.

She said: “We had two abandoned foxes brought to us by a friend when they were just two weeks old.

“We bottle fed them, but one of them became too dominant so we had to let him go.

“But Todd has a bad leg and he needed that extra bit of care.”

While most wild animals would have wanted to make a break for freedom, Todd quickly settled down to a life of domesticated bliss.

He was helped along the way by the family’s pet Jack Russell, Eva, a two-year-old who quickly grew to appreciate the companionship of her traditional ‘enemy’.

Georgina continued: “Todd is a very different type of fox – he is very chilled and laid back and he gets on really well with Eva.

“He is too domesticated to be released so we are building him a special run so we can look after him.

“My dad walks both Eva and Todd together on a lead around Beverley.

“It might seem unusual to most people, but Todd and Eva are really good friends and make a great pair.”
