Silly Billy Pardoe Spurs Rangers to Victory

Molescroft Rangers took a massive step towards promotion by winning their game at the Beverley Leisure Centre 4 – 1.

Sam Dixon opened the scoring inside 10 minutes after breaking the offside trap to coolly place the ball past the on rushing keeper.

Despite dominating the game Rangers were soon pinned back after Billy Pardoe ‘punched the ball’ in his own box resulting in a penalty that was converted.

Rangers continued to control the game and took the lead after a throw caused the Withernsea keeper to put the ball into his own goal.

The ‘Showman’ showed why he is one of the hottest strikers in the league as he scored once again. The final goal was the most pleasing for boss James Healey which came from 16 year old debutant Chris Jones.

After the match Healey said:

“Silly Billy Pardoe drove the team today though there was no excuses for his stupidity with the hand ball.”

“I was very pleased to see the youngsters, Chris Jones and Sam Wright come in and do so well.”

“We have been watching Chris Jones for some time now. He has been a regular with all season and his transition to senior today proved he has all the right qualities, we certainly have made a good acquisition.”

When asked about Rangers chances of the winning the East Riding County League Division 2 Healey said:

“We have accepted the fact we can not win the title though are certainly focused on promotion”

Rangers will be boosted by results else where in the league, Reserves and Reserves shared the points in 2 – 2 draw.

The Tanners second string looked to be on course to beating title favourites Wawne Ferry though gave a up a two goal advantage conceding an equaliser in closing minutes of the match.
