Dalton Home CC Vs Cherry Burton CC

Cherry Burton’s tail-enders came to the rescue in a thriller of a game at Dalton Home CC.

Played out in the majestic greenery of the Dalton Park estate, it looked like the visitors had done enough as they restricted Dalton to just 103 on what was deemed to be a good wicket for the batsmen.

But the home side had other ideas. Despite a sound start for Cherry Burton – including 30 for Rob Talbot – the Dalton bowlers quickly got on top and reduced the visitors to 79-8.

Enter bowlers Ashley Godber and Shaiwal. Not renowned for their prowess with the bat, the pair survived a few scares to take their side home to a remarkable two-wicket victors. Shaiwal scored the bulk of the runs, but Godber’s hard-fought five was just as important.
