Viking Raiders Vs Hodgsons FC

AkkoAfter this fantastic win, Hodgsons moved to the top of the County Premier League, after rivals Wawne Ferry could only manage a draw at home to Holme Rovers and Artfuldodgerny.com FC had their game postponed.

The tanners were without Danny Atkinson and John Helyard who joined Chris Heath on the sideline for what could be a lengthy spell for both players.

A re-shuffled Hodgsons line-up saw Richard Rose slot in at left back, Scott-Jon Tyler took Helyards place in the centre of midfield and Joe Dexter partnered the returning up front.

After just one minute the Beverley side took the lead. A long throw-in by captain was flicked home by . 6 minutes later Hodgsons scored again, once again centre half Ben Daniels finished from close range after a Hodgsons corner, this puts him on 5 goals for the season so far.

It would appear that things couldn’t get any better, and then Hodgsons scored a 3rd goal!

The first ended with Hodgsons looking very comfortable at 3 goals up. The second half saw the Raiders pour forward in search of some come back, but they didn’t test keeper Matt Dexter enough. Mean while on the counter attack Hodgsons could have, and should have extended their lead. Leading scorer Adam Foster somehow managed to put the ball wide of the post following a delivery into the box. It was certainly harder to miss than score!

With ten minutes remaining a scramble in the Hodgsons box saw a shot at goal which hit Piwinski at the front post. The referee had ajudged the ball had crossed the line, much to the amazement of Piwinski.

In the final 2 minutes of the game viking scored a very good 2nd goal from a free-kick on the edge of the box to make the final score 3-2 to Hodgsons.
