Keldgate Road Closure

KELDGATE ROAD CLOSURE 3-21 AUGUST

Yorkshire Water will be carrying out essential work to replace underground water mains at the junction of Keldgate and Lairgate in Beverley.  The work is due to start on Monday, 3 August and is programmed for completion on Friday, 21 August. Due to the position of the underground pipes and to ensure the work is undertaken safely the road will have to be closed for the three-week period.

A signed diversion route through the town will be in place and access for residents and pedestrians will be maintained.

Unfortunately, it is anticipated that this essential work will cause serious congestion and delays during peak periods. The timing and duration of the works has been agreed to take advantage of the reduction in vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the school holidays, which should minimise disruption.

The contractor working on behalf of Yorkshire Water (Laing O’Rourke) has already distributed letters to residents of Keldgate and adjoining streets informing them of the work. Advance warning signs are to be placed at the major approaches to Beverley forewarning drivers of the disruption.

During this period, ’s highway department will take advantage of the road closure to carry out some essential maintenance works. These will include footway and drainage improvements, carriageway repairs with sweeping and gully emptying.
