Although Sewerby Hall is currently closed, the team are still reaching out to their youngest visitors and customers.

In normal times, Sewerby Hall hosts weekly Sewerby Squirrels sessions, which cannot happen at the moment. Instead, there are weekly posts on social media aimed at Under 5s and their families.

The posts include a series of ‘Sewerby Squirrels Crafts at Home’ videos – short guides on how to make very simple crafts for Under 5s, with some support from an adult.

Other posts include highlights from the Sewerby Squirrels Photo Album; Sewerby Squirrels’ antics inside the house; and suggestions for outdoor activities.

These activities are posted on Facebook and Twitter each Monday in term time, and the craft videos can also be accessed on the Sewerby Hall and Gardens YouTube page.

Lucy Cooke, Under 5s Learning Co-ordinator for East Riding of Yorkshire Service, said;

“Obviously, we are all missing being able to host our regular Sewerby Squirrels sessions, but we feel it’s important to maintain contact with our youngest guests and their families and to keep supplying ideas of fun and educational things to do. We will keep the regular posts coming throughout the lockdown until we can welcome Sewerby Squirrels again.”
