Tickets for the event that sees runners tackle a course around Beverley sold out in record time with all 1,850 places being sold in less than six hours.
Year on year the event has grown and is widely regarded as one of the best 10K competitive runs in the area as people travel from far and wide to participate.
Commenting on the success of the ticket sales a spokesperson for Beverley AC said;
“Entries for the 25th running of the Pittaway Beverley 10k road race opened on Saturday 3 February and promptly sold out after five and a half hours.”
“All of the 1,850 places were snapped up by hundreds of members of local clubs, unaffiliated local runners and dozens from across Yorkshire and the North.”
“The first 600 places were filled within ten minutes of going on sale, which is one entry per second.”
Last year it was Gregan Clarkson, from Beverley, who runs for Kingston upon Hull AC was the overall winner with a new PB clocking a time of 00:33:11.
Becky Rigby of Preston Harriers & AC was the first lady as she finished the course with a time of 00:35:49.
The club have also confirmed that both Pittaway Painting and Decorators and B&A Scaffolding will be sponsoring the main event and Beverley 2K Fun Run.
The spokesperson expressed their thanks to their sponsors and to the locals who help make this event the success it is, they added;
“The club would like to thank all entrants, race sponsors and the people of Beverley for their continued wonderful support. “
“This important annual event for the town and looks forward to another fabulous event on 13 May.”
