Members of the community are being invited to donate and ‘name a leaf’ as East Riding Theatre look to raise £10,000 to fund a state of the art lighting rig.
The incentive, which has been launched to co-inside with their third birthday will give supporters of the theatre a chance to help them raise the cash needed to take them to the next level.
Commenting on the new fund raising campaign, Theatre manager, Sue Kirkman, said;
“Before the theatre opened, the campaign to ‘name a seat’ proved hugely successful and the theatre raised £18,000 in support of opening the new venue.”
“We are extremely grateful to York St John University who helped ERT to establish the successful venue through a long-term loan of a theatre lighting system.”
“Over the last three years, ERT has attracted and produced more and more ambitious shows and our current lighting rig is just not sustainable.”
To raise the money people will can choose from four options. £100 buys a golden leaf, £50 buys a silver leaf and £25 buys a copper leaf, while a larger golden apples can be purchased for a donation of £250.
Sue added;
“The Lighting Tree project has been led by an ERT volunteer who, with a little help from some friends, has created a beautiful piece of Art that recognises the community spirit at ERT.”
“If anyone is stuck for presents to give this Christmas, one of the leaves or an apple is bound to be well received.”
Once funded the Theatre say that the new rig will be fitted with energy efficient equipment while providing ease of access and be less expensive to run.
They say it would also help avoid costly hire charges and enable the theatre to safely train young technicians.
New lighting would also enable the theatre to produce more ambitious in-house productions and to accommodate higher end theatre companies with amazing shows for audiences to see.
