Rumi’s Indian Restaurant are celebrating after they picked up an accolade at the Asian and Oriental Food awards.

The event which was held in central London saw Rumi’s who have been trading in Beverley for just 19 months claim second prestigious award.

Commenting on their success business owner Sham Alom said;

“I am honoured to have received such an accolade. It’s a huge achievement for myself to be named the Asian and Oriental Chef of the year 2017.”

“As a business, we are delighted. It was our second award after we were highly commended as a newcomer of the year 2016 at the Asian Curry Awards.”

“This particular award was given to us following a selection from a panel of judges and organisers of the Asian curry awards.”

In all, there were 30 different chefs in the running for the award, but it was the chef from Beverley, who came out on top, he added;

“They handpicked chefs from all over the UK whom they want to present the award to. It is a recognition of our contributions and skills to the Indian restaurant trade.”

“I got a call two weeks ago from the chairman saying I had been selected to attend an award ceremony which took place at the House of Commons.”

“We went but was not expecting an award, but whilst there my name was called out, and we won!”

“I would like to thank all my customers and also the staff for their ongoing support that has helped make Rumi’s the success it is.”

“Going forward I hope we can build on this award, not only is it good for our business, but it is good for Beverley as it helps raise the profile of the town.”
