The Summer Reading Challenge – produced by the Reading Agency – encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during the school summer holidays. Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said : “Volunteering for the Summer Reading Challenge can help to give you a respected reference for employment, and a chance to develop your skills. You will also make new friends, and add invaluable experience to your CV – and make a difference to your local community.”

Librarian Jess Thewlis added : “ This year’s Challenge, with its Roald Dahl theme, promises to be great fun – we hope that lots of people will want to volunteer to help in 2016.”
