East Riding of Yorkshire council launches consultation on planning obligations guidance

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is inviting comments on a draft supplementary planning document (SPD) on planning obligations. The consultation will be open from Monday 8 September until 11.59 on Monday 20 October.

Supplementary planning documents provide more detailed advice and guidance on the application of policies in a Local Plan. This draft SPD will complement the policies in the East Riding Local Plan Update, which was adopted in April 2025.

Over £500,000 secured to boost business growth in the East Riding

Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services team has secured more than £500,000 of government funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), to support local businesses with a range of grants.

Grants of up to £50,000 are available to support business growth projects. Funding can be used for capital investment such as new equipment or machinery, farm diversification, the creation of new tourism accommodation, and carbon reduction projects including solar energy.

East Yorkshire residents warned of bogus Winter Fuel Payment texts

East Riding of Yorkshire Council Trading Standards Services is advising residents to beware of a Winter Fuel Payment scam, where fraudsters target vulnerable pensioners with details of a bogus and unnecessary application process.

Pensioners are targeted by a text message inviting them to make an application to claim the Winter Fuel Payment. The text contains a link to a fake website with an application form that requests personal information, including bank details.
