Freedom brings to the City of Hull a celebration of Art, Music, Dance, Circus and Community.
The wait is over, the Freedom Festival 2025 programme is now live! From 28–31 August, Hull’s streets, squares, and marina will once again come alive with an extraordinary mix of world-class circus, unique music, daring performances, thought-provoking installations, and joyful community experiences.
Thanks to government funding, Bridlington North Library is set for a major transformation, including a complete ground floor refurbishment and the addition of an innovative junior sensory room.
With £250,000 funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Libraries Improvement Fund as well as additional council funding, the project will transform Bridlington North Library. This is following the successful reopening of Bridlington Central Library this summer which also benefitted from the funding.
Beverley Theatre Company (BTC) are pleased to announce that their next production will be a brand new play telling the story of Jack the Ripper and his victims. Written by BTC members Anthony Musgrave and Nev Slater, who wrote the very well-received version of Dracula that sold-out at ERT in 2023, the storyline is a mixture of fact and fiction, giving the victims of Jack the Ripper a voice and telling us their perspective on events.

A large road improvement scheme, to improve the C35 between White Thorn Farm and Smeaton Road, is set to commence. The £345,000 project, undertaken by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s network surfacing team, will start on Monday 1 September. The works will run for up to 3 weeks between 8am and 5pm.

Easy access to fast charging points will make electric vehicles more practical to use, reducing dependence on traditional fuel. The 15th annual Walking East Yorkshire Festival is set to return, providing a huge variety of experiences from Humber Bridge County Park to Hornsea Mere. From Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 September, guided walks and experiences are being held across the county.
The festival is brought together by tourism, partners, and volunteers across East Yorkshire. It is administrated by Visit East Yorkshire, run in partnership with East Riding Council. The festival includes walks, cycling trails and cultural and historical tours for all the family.
