East Riding poetry festival returns to the High Wolds and is calling for submissions on the theme of ‘connections’

East Riding poetry festival returns to the High Wolds and is calling for submissions on the theme of ‘connections’

The High Wolds Poetry Festival, to be held at Kilham Village Hall on Saturday 27 September, is calling for submissions, with this year’s theme being ‘connections’.

For the first time, the festival will be held in Kilham, after being held in North Dalton in previous years. The roving festival will now rotate across Wolds villages in upcoming years, bringing poetry to a range of locations.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens to host ‘summer of fun’

Sewerby Hall gardens and zoo are hosting a variety of exciting events and activities for the whole family during the summer holidays. This includes puppet shows, magic and face painting, immersive story telling adventures, and weekly Wildcats activities.

Sewerby Hall will celebrate Yorkshire Day on Friday 1 August. There will also be a family fun day with bouncy slides and bubbles on Sunday 3 August,  followed by zoo activities, and Car club gatherings on Sunday 6 July, Sunday 10 and 17 August. Additionally, the ICONIC BRICKS Pirates! Exhibition will launch on Friday 22 August.

Race the Waves, an internationally recognised vintage motoring spectacular, will bring high-octane drag racing back to Bridlington’s South Bay next month.
