Mr Ahmed Abdulrahman of Scarborough Road, Filey, appeared at Beverley Magistrates Court on Wednesday 25 June and pleaded guilty to nine food safety and hygiene offences. Mr Abdulrahman was the former food business operator of Roma Kebab, a fast-food takeaway located in Flamborough which has since ceased trading.

New 20mph zone approved for Hull’s Old Town
Work to implement a new 20mph zone in Hull’s Old Town area, as part of the safety improvement scheme for Lowgate, has been given the greenlight to progress by Hull City Council.
The new 20mph zone aims to reduce the risk of accidents for all road users near Hull College and the retail and entertainment venues located between George Street and the A63 Castle Street. The zone will also cover Savile Street, Vernon Street, Queens Dock Avenue, Princes Dock Street, Guildhall Road, Alfred Gelder Street and the side streets off Lowgate that border the River Hull, which are home to a number of businesses that form part of the night-time economy.

The High Wolds Poetry Festival, to be held at Kilham Village Hall on Saturday 27 September, is calling for submissions, with this year’s theme being ‘connections’.
For the first time, the festival will be held in Kilham, after being held in North Dalton in previous years. The roving festival will now rotate across Wolds villages in upcoming years, bringing poetry to a range of locations.

Sewerby Hall will celebrate Yorkshire Day on Friday 1 August. East Riding residents are being urged to report incidents of dog fouling caught on video or witnessed in person, and for dog owners to be responsible and clean up after their animals.
Dog fouling degrades the local environment and can cause infections for people, dogs and other animals. Residents should ‘bag it and bin it’ and clean up after dogs responsibly.
