The Humber Museums Partnership has recently been successful in raising £547,000 from a National Strategic Arts Council England fund, Ambitions for Excellence.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s countryside access team has launched its Countryside Events 2017 programme.
From rambles and themed walks (including photography, navigation, geocaching and orienteering) to wildlife watching events; from Kids Go Wild events to workshops, conservation days and natural craft workshops – the programme includes something for everybody with an interest in the outdoors.
There will be a chance to join East Riding Libraries this February Half-Term (20-24 February) for an animal -themed storytime, inspired by the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Beverley Art Gallery, which runs from 11 February to 22 April.
The libraries team have selected some fun stories including ‘One to Ten, Animal Mayhem’ by Thomas Flintham, ideally suited to pre-schoolers; and David Walliams’s ‘First Hippo on the Moon’ which is fun for all the family.
Following its recent hugely popular concert in Hull as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returns to the region this summer, presenting a family concert as part of its Noisy Kids series at Bridlington Spa on Sunday 9 July.
This concert will be part of the ‘Classically Yours’ programme, one of the key Hull 2017 events facilitated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council – a Principal Partner in Hull 2017 – throughout the year.
The world-renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at Beverley Art Gallery in The Treasure House in Beverley on Saturday 11 February, featuring 100 awe-inspiring images, from fascinating animal behaviour to breathtaking wild landscapes.
It is one of the East Riding’s major events as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, in which East Riding of Yorkshire Council is a principal partner.
East Riding Leisure South Holderness at Preston has introduced the STA (Swimming Teachers’ Association) International Learn to Swim Programme throughout its swimming lessons programme, including platinum awards for advanced swimming and junior lifeguard courses from Monday 23 January, 2017.
The new programme will be fun and exciting, and will help children and young people progress through levels and achieve, by virtue of their success tracker and Health and Wellbeing books.
