The document has been prepared by the council and will act as a blueprint in guiding economic activity in the East Riding for the next five years, with the aim of promoting growth in all parts of the area.

Innovative Community Event In Beverley Ahead Of Beverley Early Music Festival

Two groups of young people in Yorkshire have come together across boundaries to take the recorder to their hearts, in an innovative community project as part of the 31st Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival opening next week, 24-27 May 2018.

York’s Minster Minstrels, an established youth ensemble dedicated to the exploration of early music, and Castaway Musical Theatre Goole, a vibrant group of young people with learning and physical disabilities from the Goole area, have been working on a collaborative project for the last three months, as part of the BBC Ten Pieces project, which aims to make classical music and musical instruments accessible.

The HMP Humber Art Department, known as GRAFT Studio, is collaborating with Artlink on an immersive and interactive exhibition, focused on the changing landscape and the aspirations of those currently working and living in the secure prison units.

GRAFT’s ethos is to use art as a vehicle to improve confidence, grow self-esteem, and to incrementally transform individuals by engaging them in a pro-active intervention program. Elements and working practices from the Studio will be recreated to allow visitors to observe and take part in the environment, projects, techniques, and journey of HMP Humber’s students.

Partnership Formed To Support Armed Forces Personnel, Veterans And Families

Five local councils have joined forces to strengthen the area’s local Armed Forces Covenants, which support those who are serving, veterans and their families.

Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, North Lincolnshire Council, North East Lincolnshire Council and Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council have secured £480,000 funding from the Ministry of Defence to form a Sub Regional Armed Forces Covenant Partnership. The funding will enable the local authorities to share good practice, develop training packages and working together to improve the support available for armed forces veterans and their families.
