Police Warn People to Keep of the Frozen Beck

Humberside Police are warning of the dangers of children playing on ice following numerous calls about incidents on Beverly Beck on Monday 20 December 2010. In the space of 30 minutes between 1900hrs and 1930hrs yesterday police received four calls from concerned residents about young people playing on the ice on Beverley Beck near Beckside North. Stay Away From Frozen Waterways

People throughout the East Riding are being reminded that while frozen waterways, ponds and lakes may look tempting they can be dangerous. There has been evidence that a number of people have walked on Beverley Beck during the icy conditions.  However, the ice may be thin and a fall through could prove fatal. Archbishop of York Blesses Syntan Barge

The Archbishop of York gave his blessing to the Syntan barge this weekend. Dr John Sentamu travelled along East Yorkshire’s waterways to York from Beverley Beck on the Beverley Barge Preservation Society boat to bless the York Millennium Bridge on its tenth anniversay.
