Hull Culture and Leisure Library Service have been successful in its bid for £243,783 to the ‘Libraries Opportunities for Everyone Innovation Fund’ to create a new Makerspace within Hull Central Library.

This investment will allow Hull Culture and Leisure to create a space within the Central Library where anyone can explore their creativity in the arts, science and technology – whether independently or collaboratively.

Public Health England has re-launched the national ‘Act FAST’ stroke campaign, which runs until 31 March, working closely with the Stroke Association.

Hull City Council has joined forces with Keep Britain Tidy to launch a new campaign to tackle the epidemic of fly-tipping that is affecting communities up and down the country.

#CrimeNotToCare, which is being run in partnership with environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, aims to educate householders about the right thing to do with their rubbish and to reduce the amount of household waste that is fly-tipped by rogue traders who offer to take people’s waste away for money and then dump it.

The Tidal Waves team are reminding people wanting to attend the Tidal Waves Beach Music Festival in Bridlington on 9 and 10 June that ‘Early-bird’ tickets, priced at £14 for the Friday evening and £36 for Saturday, are available until 31 March, 2017. Festival tickets for both days are £48.

There are also child tickets available – £20 for the Saturday, or £30 for the full weekend. There will also be a platform for wheelchair users (restricted to 30 plus one carer/friend).

Be Online encourages people to use more online self-service facilities and access websites such as Learn My Way to improve digital skills with free online courses. These include online basics and safety, finding work online and CV writing.
