The opening Beverley Building Society charity of the month for 2017 was won by Crohn’s & Colitis UK, which has a local group for Hull and East Yorkshire.
Beverley Building Society are donating £250 to the dedicated team in Hull, whose volunteers raise awareness, and funds.

Humberside Police are appealing to the public following the theft of a mobility scooter form outside a property on Morton Lane in Beverley.
In a statement released, a spokesperson for the police said while the scooter has been recovered they are keen to track down a man seen riding on it.

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart has condemned a new EU Regulation that threatens the livelihoods of Holderness coast beach fishermen and has written to the Fisheries Minister, George Eustice, to ask him to pursue an exemption for Holderness.
The Regulation includes a total ban on targeted sea bass fishing from the shore, jeopardising the future of men like Shaun Wingham, who fishes near Withernsea using the centuries-old practice of onshore fishing, whereby a net is stretched out along the shoreline at low tide and the catch is brought in when it retreats again. Sea bass is the most valuable part of their haul.
