New Format For Popular Football Competition The Tanton Cup

The Hornsea & District Hospital War Memorial Challenge Cup, more popularly known as the Tanton Cup, after P.C. Tanton Esq who donated the trophy, is one of the oldest football cup competitions in the East Riding, and this will be its 94th anniversary year.

It is competed for by local football clubs from North Holderness and still remains a popular competition among local players and spectators. Hornsea Town are the current cup holders.

Some dog owners across the East Riding are breaking the law by failing to keep the details on their dogs’ microchip up to date.

It’s a year since the new law came into force which requires all dogs to be microchipped with the correct details and since April 2016, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s dog warden team have prosecuted six owners and issued 64 notices to amend details or have the dog chipped.

The touring exhibition at Beverley Art Gallery in the Treasure House has been open since 10 February, but its ten-week run in the East Riding comes to an end at 4pm on Saturday 22 April.
