Major Roadworks On C8 North Cave – Market Weighton Road

As part of the council’s programme of highway maintenance works, essential carriageway improvement works along the C8 road between North Cave and Market Weighton will begin on Monday, 17 July, 2017, and will take approximately 20 weeks to complete.

The road will be closed 24 hours a day for the full duration of the scheme, because of the nature of the work involved, and to allow a safe working environment for the workforce. The works will be carried out by C R Reynolds Ltd. on behalf of the council.

A new free exhibition at the Treasure House opens on Saturday 15 July – ‘Morning, Campers!’ is a nostalgic look at the history of the British holiday camp.

The first holiday camp appeared in 1894 on the Isle of Man. However, it was in the 1930s that Billy Butlin launched the concept of the holiday camp in a big way.

Chalets Available In Bridlington And Hornsea Over The Winter Months

The popular winter lets scheme – which allows people to hire the council’s chalets in Bridlington and Hornsea during the winter months – is now available again for winter 2017/ 2018. Chalets are already selling out fast.

The chalets will be available from 23 September, 2017, to 10 March, 2018 and prices start at £225 and go to £320 for the whole period, depending on the individual chalet.

The application which was made in June was validated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council just days ago meaning people could soon no longer need to travel to the nearest store.

East Riding Taxis Install CCTV To Protect Passengers and Drivers

A pilot scheme which will see taxis in the East Riding fitted with CCTV cameras to protect both drivers and passengers has been launched.

The scheme has been introduced by licensing officers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council and so far, 61 taxis have been fitted with small CCTV cameras within the vehicles, including on dashboards and rear view windscreens.
