WISHH, the local Charity which raises funds solely to support the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill hospitals has appointed Carl Wheatley as its first Chief Executive.

Carl will take up the post on 21 July and joins WISHH from Hull based NAPA (the Northern Academy of Performing Arts) where he has been Chief Executive for 6 years. He brings extensive experience in charity leadership, fundraising, and public engagement. Prior to his role at NAPA, he was a familiar voice as a senior BBC presenter and journalist.

A programme of free online sessions is now available to mark Safeguarding Week, which begins on Monday 16 June.

Partners from Safeguarding Adults Boards, Safeguarding Children Partnerships and Community Safety Partnerships across Hull, North Yorkshire, the City of York Council, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council have come together and developed an extensive programme of learning events, seminars and interactive sessions.

A concrete barrier is to be installed on a road outside a Driffield school to help ensure the safety of pupils, staff and families. 

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is due to place the temporary barrier along Northfield Road outside Driffield Northfield Infant School. 

Sewerby Hall gardens and zoo are hosting a variety of exciting events and activities for the whole family during the summer holidays. This includes puppet shows, magic and face painting, immersive story telling adventures, and weekly Wildcats activities.

Sewerby Hall will celebrate Yorkshire Day on Friday 1 August. There will also be a family fun day with bouncy slides and bubbles on Sunday 3 August,  followed by zoo activities, and Car club gatherings on Sunday 6 July, Sunday 10 and 17 August. Additionally, the ICONIC BRICKS Pirates! Exhibition will launch on Friday 22 August.

The first-ever DadFest Yorkshire, held at South Cliff Holiday Park, was a huge success bringing together dads, father figures, and their children for a weekend of unforgettable outdoor fun, bonding, and adventure.

Organised by The Dads Network CIC in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the award-winning festival made its Yorkshire debut with a packed programme of activities, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Bridlington coast.

Race the Waves, an internationally recognised vintage motoring spectacular, will bring high-octane drag racing back to Bridlington’s South Bay next month.

Organised by Backfire, in conjunction with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Visit East Yorkshire, the hugely popular event, which first took place in 2018, will see an array of vintage vehicles racing in pairs along a 200-yard course along the beach.

More refugees have received cycle training and refurbished bikes thanks to an award-winning project helping them get around the East Riding. 

A group of 16 new residents took part in the latest two-day Refugee Cycle Project held at East Riding Leisure Beverley by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s road safety team.
