Community Morning To Be Held As First Faze The Gypsey Race Park Complete

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Esh Construction are hosting a community morning. It will take place on Saturday, 9 February, from 10am-12noon. The morning is to celebrate the completion of the first phase of the new Gypsey Race Park, in Bridlington.

Work on the new linear park started in early 2018. It will see a green corridor along the stream providing pleasant walking and cycling routes. Also, it will feature play areas and improved habitats for wildlife.

The 52nd annual Open Exhibition, which celebrates some of the best artistic talents in the region is now open at the Ferens Art Gallery.

More than 300 artworks have been selected by a high-profile panel of judges consisting of Senior Curator at Humber Street Gallery, Hull, John Heffernan, BBC Arts Correspondent Rebecca Jones, and Visual Artist Ian McKeever RA, who recently had an exhibition of his work on display at the Gallery.

Firm Fined £2,000 For Illegal Adverts For Beverley Christmas Event

A company has been fined £2,000 for illegally placing a number of signs on the roadside advertising a Christmas event in Beverley.

Cottage Industrys Ltd of Tokenspire Business Park, Woodmansey, represented by its director Paul Leonard, admitted placing 38 signs on the sides of major roads, junctions and roundabouts to promote a Mistletoe Fair at Beverley Racecourse, held last November.

St Mary’s Ward Councillor Denis Healy has met with the Acting Head of Longcroft School, Andy Baker, together with Longcroft pupils and teachers, following last week’s publication of the national progress scores, which revealed that Longcroft had the lowest score in the East Riding for pupil progress and below the national average.

Cllr Healy had said that parents needed to “have faith” that the school could turn round its performance. That prompted Mr Baker to contact Cllr Healy with an invitation to visit the school, to see for himself the work that is going on to get Longcroft back on track.
