Housing Plans A Major Step Towards Completion Of Council Masterplan

Beverley-based Lovel Developments has submitted plans for the next phase of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s housing masterplan for the town after securing permission for an initial project to build 189 homes.

The Council’s planning committee has now approved the first phase of the scheme south of Willow Lane and Philip Lovel, Managing Director of Lovel Developments, said the decision opens up an area of 14.25 hectares of land which is part of the masterplan.

Aldi’s store in Beverley is now donating surplus food directly to two local charities that redistribute supplies to vulnerable people in the area, food bank Food 4 Life and the Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre, which provides a range of support for people living locally.

The new partnerships follow on from a successful trial between the supermarket and community engagement platform, Neighbourly. Aldi has paired up a total of nine stores in Hull and East Riding with local good causes that are now collecting surplus food up to five days a week.

Hull has been named as the only city in Yorkshire to host a screening of the Royal Ballet’s adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, live from the Royal Opera House.

On Tuesday 11 June at 7pm, Trinity Square will be filled with 600 seats and people are being invited to come along for free with a picnic and watch Kenneth MacMillan’s celebrated ballet Romeo and Juliet, alongside a live audience at Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House and other screenings across the country.
