Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services team has secured more than £500,000 of government funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), to support local businesses with a range of grants.

Grants of up to £50,000 are available to support business growth projects. Funding can be used for capital investment such as new equipment or machinery, farm diversification, the creation of new tourism accommodation, and carbon reduction projects including solar energy.

The British Open celebrates its Golden Jubilee at the Bridlington Spa, which has been the home of the championships for the last 21 years. The event is once again held in conjunction with the Tri-Nations Darts Organisation.

This event reaches a significant milestone as the longest-running darts championship in the world which started back in 1973. Over the years, it has featured the majority of the sport’s icons, and this year, the competition promises to be exciting as the elite players battle to become the “Golden Champion”.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is encouraging residents to attend a Help for Households community event in Withernsea on Wednesday 25 September. The event will offer practical support and expert advice to help local people save money and stay warm this autumn and winter.

The event will be held at Withernsea Leisure Centre, on Wednesday 25 September, from 10am-3pm. There is no booking required to attend, and there will be free tea and coffee available.

A woman from Goole has been ordered to pay a total of £1,123.28 for fly-tipping, following proceedings at Hull Magistrates’ Court. 

Natasha Ferguson, of Heber Street, Goole, was found guilty of abandoning waste in a back alley between Heber Street and Kingston Street, Goole.

Thanks to government funding, Bridlington North Library is set for a major transformation, including a complete ground floor refurbishment and the addition of an innovative junior sensory room.

With £250,000 funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Libraries Improvement Fund as well as additional council funding, the project will transform Bridlington North Library. This is following the successful reopening of Bridlington Central Library this summer which also benefitted from the funding.

The zoo team at Sewerby Hall and Gardens are delighted to announce that a name has been chosen for the new, female Humboldt penguin chick.

Following a lively public vote which took place on Sewerby Hall and Gardens’ social media, the name Pebble took the lead and has been chosen as the winning name.

East Riding Leisure Haltemprice will have a gym refurbishment next month and feature brand new gym kit and equipment.

The area will also be deep cleaned, decorated, and electrical works will all be taking place during the 13 day closure.
