An £86.9m scheme to transform one of the East Riding’s biggest bottleneck junctions is to reach a number of major milestones this month.
The A164 and Jock’s Lodge Improvement Scheme is the single largest construction project ever carried out by East Riding of Yorkshire Council with extensive work on two of the area’s busiest roads – the A164 Hull to Beverley and the A1079 Hull to York roads – just outside Beverley.
Earlier this year, Ancient Egypt rose again, this time in the heart of East Yorkshire. As the newly renovated Champney Treasure House in Beverley opened its doors to visitors, it unveiled its inaugural exhibition — “Resurrecting Ancient Egypt: A Monumental Yorkshire Journey”. A group of young musicians from Beverley Grammar School are celebrating after winning the prestigious Battle of the Bands competition for school pupils at Bridlington Spa.

Barnardo’s run SEND groups for children and young people in the East Riding, aged 5 to 11 and 12 to 18. Each Saturday, 10 groups run each week across six different locations in Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Goole, Hedon and Market Weighton. The inclusive sessions offer games, arts, crafts, sports, music, drama and fun with friends.
Significant improvement works to enhance accessibility at East Park have been completed, including the reopening on the main park gates on Holderness Road.

The Leader of Hull City Council has signed off a plan that will see local ward funds, known as ‘Community Initiative Budgets (CIB)’, boosted by Hull City Council.

Four groups from Driffield have been awarded a combined total of over £375,000 from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of commuted sums to improve their offer to the community.
Driffield RUFC has been awarded £150,000 from commuted sums to extend their clubhouse. The current clubhouse no longer fits the needs of the club, and the planned two-storey extension will benefit them greatly.
