A charity which improves core educational skills in both Maths and English has recorded a huge increase in the work they do with special schools.

Run With It – who recently launched a new Patron’s Scheme to secure vital funding for their ongoing work across the Humber region – also develops essential life skills that go beyond the classroom walls.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is encouraging parents and carers to seek support for any concerns about their child’s school attendance.

East Riding schools are dedicated to making sure every child attends school happily and ready to learn.  Working closely with families and services they can help reduce any barriers to learning, and support improved attendance.

East Riding residents are being urged to report incidents of dog fouling caught on video or witnessed in person, and for dog owners to be responsible and clean up after their animals.

Dog fouling degrades the local environment and can cause infections for people, dogs and other animals. Residents should ‘bag it and bin it’ and clean up after dogs responsibly.

Students shone with a display of talent, dedication and industry excellence at Bishop Burton College’s flagship Stock Skills event.

The competition showcases the specialist knowledge and practical skills of the college’s agriculture and equine students.

A mural has been unveiled at the pedestrian access tunnel to Hessle Country Park, to improve the visual amenity of the area and reduce the likelihood of further graffiti.

A Beverley skincare specialist and director of an industry networking organisation has organised a conference to explore psychodermatology, neurocosmetics and wellbeing.

In her capacity as director, research and innovation pillar for Cosmetics Cluster UK Ltd (CCUK), Dr Katerina Steventon will chair and speak at the one-day ‘Bringing Psychodermatology into Personal Care’ conference in Liverpool on 10th September.

Councillor Liam Dealtry has been elected as the new chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council following the authority’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). 

Councillor Dealtry, who has been vice chairman for the last year, has served for six years as an Independent councillor representing the Bridlington Central and Old Town ward on East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

On Friday 6 June, residents and visitors will be able to attend the unveiling of two new wooden carved sculptures celebrating the area’s influence on J.R.R Tolkien’s work.

The event will take place at All Saints Church in Roos, East Riding of Yorkshire.

Hull City Council and local charity, R-evolution, are celebrating the continued growth of the Trinity Market Cycle Hub, which saw an increase in repairs, donations, parking and public engagement in 2024/25.

Last year, the number of people using the hub’s free, secure indoor cycle parking increased to 4,830, up 23% on 2023/24 when 3,905 people used the facility.

Champney Treasure House, in Beverley, is hosting an exhibition to highlight the High Wolds Poetry Festival.

Poetry for All centres around the High Wolds Poetry Festival, a partnership between East Riding museums and local poets. The festival is set to take place at Kilham village hall on Saturday 27 September, after being held in North Dalton for the last six occasions.
