Hull’s International Arts and Culture Festival, Freedom Festival, is again extending its reach beyond the city, through the Freedom On Tour programme. The initiative will bring a dynamic selection of world-class cultural experiences to communities across Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire, ensuring that the region as a whole can benefit from the festival’s unique creative offerings.
Walking East Yorkshire Festival to return in September with a variety of walks and experiences across the region
The 15th annual Walking East Yorkshire Festival is set to return, providing a huge variety of experiences from Humber Bridge County Park to Hornsea Mere. From Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 September, guided walks and experiences are being held across the county.
The festival is brought together by tourism, partners, and volunteers across East Yorkshire. It is administrated by Visit East Yorkshire, run in partnership with East Riding Council. The festival includes walks, cycling trails and cultural and historical tours for all the family. From vineyard tours to a Beverley ghost walk, the festival provides an opportunity and get active and explore the county’s natural beauty and history.

£250,000 scheme to improve road near Easington, in Holderness
An essential scheme to improve a road between Holmpton and Easington, in Holderness, is due to begin in September.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £250,000 to upgrade Out Newton Road in Out Newton including resurfacing bends, patching parts of the road surface, strengthening its edges and replacing damaged kerbing.
New traffic calming measures to be installed in Beverley
A new road safety scheme is due to be installed in Molescroft, Beverley.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking to introduce a road safety scheme on Woodhall Way, Molescroft, by creating a new 20mph zone and laying speed bumps on a 450m length of the road between the junctions of Eden Road and St Leonards Road.

Major milestones for £86.9m Jock’s Lodge road transformation
An £86.9m scheme to transform one of the East Riding’s biggest bottleneck junctions is to reach a number of major milestones this month.
The A164 and Jock’s Lodge Improvement Scheme is the single largest construction project ever carried out by East Riding of Yorkshire Council with extensive work on two of the area’s busiest roads – the A164 Hull to Beverley and the A1079 Hull to York roads – just outside Beverley.

Barnardo’s Bumble B sessions offer children with SEND fun activities this summer
Barnardo’s run SEND groups for children and young people in the East Riding, aged 5 to 11 and 12 to 18. Each Saturday, 10 groups run each week across six different locations in Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Goole, Hedon and Market Weighton. The inclusive sessions offer games, arts, crafts, sports, music, drama and fun with friends.
East Park gates reopen as part of major park improvements
Significant improvement works to enhance accessibility at East Park have been completed, including the reopening on the main park gates on Holderness Road.
East Park now features additional parking spaces, including accessible spaces, a new footpath, new signs and lines for a new road layout with a one-way system and added speed tables.
