Bridlington Park And Ride Buses And Land Trains Will Start On 4 July

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that the popular Bridlington Park and Ride bus service will start on Saturday, 4 July, and will run until early November, seven days a week.

Whilst the COVID-19 restrictions are in place, customers will have to wear a face-covering if they wish to travel on the Park and Ride. There will also be reduced capacity on the Park and Ride buses to ensure social distancing.

Fred Elwell Birth Celebrated By Beverley Art Gallery

Beverley Art Gallery – although still closed at the moment – is marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of local artist Fred Elwell on Monday, 29 June.

The Gallery features the UK’s largest collection of Fred’s work. Elwell’s paintings are a permanent feature of the Edwardian ‘red’ gallery, located in the Treasure House in Beverley. The display is altered every year, with loans from both private and public collections.

Discretionary Grant Scheme Application Deadline Extended

Small and micro businesses and charities across the East Riding who have not qualified for Government funding so far during the COVID-19 pandemic have been given more time to apply for grants of up to £25,000.

Businesses that share a workplace, B&Bs that pay council tax, market traders who have fixed property costs and charity properties could all be eligible to apply for funding through the Government-backed discretionary grant scheme.

Bus Checker Service Launched To Help Travelers Plan Their Journey

East Yorkshire has launched two innovative travel tools for customers.  Along with social distancing, wearing face coverings and enhanced cleaning, the new tools aim to give people the confidence to use buses as customers return to work and school.

Customers will be able to use the ‘When2Travel’ tool when planning their journey, to see how busy a journey usually is using a sliding scale from green (very quiet) to red (very busy).  They will also be able to track a specific bus in real-time, to see how busy the bus actually is on the day.
