There’s plenty to do across the East Riding in September including over 100 free Heritage Open Days taking place between Friday, 12 and Sunday, 21 September.

The Beverley and District Civic Society has produced a 44 page programme including venues and events in Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Goole, Hornsea, Howden and Swanland plus other villages in the East Riding, such as Aike, Bishop Burton, Etton, Holme on Spalding Moor, Pocklington, Rudston, Skirlaugh, Whitgift.

Excitement is building in Beverley as local residents prepare to welcome Regents, a revolutionary new hair cutting and styling concept set to open its doors in Autumn 2025. 

Founded by renowned hair stylist Max Nicholson, Regents is designed to cater to those who want to maintain a polished, salon-fresh look with unprecedented ease.

Beverley will be bathed in music and candlelight this October as “Candlelit Beatles” comes to Beverley Minster on Friday 24th October.

Led by Yorkshire’s own Alistair Griffin and accompanied by the Ebor string quartet, the concert brings a fresh, soulful take on the greatest hits of The Beatles — from Hey Jude, Let It Be, Eleanor Rigby, and more. Performed by candlelight in the beautiful Beverley Minster, this unique tribute promises a moving and nostalgic experience for music lovers of all ages.

Beverley Art Gallery is inviting regional artists to submit their work for the 24th Annual Open Art Exhibition, a celebration of creativity and talent.

Submissions will be judged by esteemed guest selectors invited by the gallery, more information about this year’s selectors will be shared soon.

The 15th annual Walking East Yorkshire Festival is set to return, providing a huge variety of experiences from Humber Bridge County Park to Hornsea Mere. From Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 September, guided walks and experiences are being held across the county.

The festival is brought together by tourism, partners, and volunteers across East Yorkshire. It is administrated by Visit East Yorkshire, run in partnership with East Riding Council. The festival includes walks, cycling trails and cultural and historical tours for all the family. From vineyard tours to a Beverley ghost walk, the festival provides an opportunity and get active and explore the county’s natural beauty and history.

A Beverley skincare specialist has been invited to address delegates at a global online conference.

Dr Katerina Steventon, the only UK speaker, and one of six honorary international speakers, will talk about neurocosmetics and psychodermatology at the ‘Scientific Esthetics Symposium’ which takes place in November.

A new road safety scheme is due to be installed in Molescroft, Beverley. 

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking to introduce a road safety scheme on Woodhall Way, Molescroft, by creating a new 20mph zone and laying speed bumps on a 450m length of the road between the junctions of Eden Road and St Leonards Road. 

An £86.9m scheme to transform one of the East Riding’s biggest bottleneck junctions is to reach a number of major milestones this month. 

The A164 and Jock’s Lodge Improvement Scheme is the single largest construction project ever carried out by East Riding of Yorkshire Council with extensive work on two of the area’s busiest roads – the A164 Hull to Beverley and the A1079 Hull to York roads – just outside Beverley. 

A group of young musicians from Beverley Grammar School are celebrating after winning the prestigious Battle of the Bands competition for school pupils at Bridlington Spa.

Satin & Smoke – a six-piece group made up of Year 10 pupils – were named winners by the judges on a competitive night of high-quality music, organised by East Riding Music Hub.

Barnardo’s run SEND groups for children and young people in the East Riding, aged 5 to 11 and 12 to 18. Each Saturday, 10 groups run each week across six different locations in Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Goole, Hedon and Market Weighton. The inclusive sessions offer games, arts, crafts, sports, music, drama and fun with friends.

This September and October, the Festival of Words will host a selection of best-selling authors who will share their thoughts on their latest work whilst engaging the audience in compelling discussions.

Organised by East Riding Libraries and funded by Arts Council England, the Festival programme has been put together by librarians from the service, based on authors, poets and other creative writers who are popular with library members and customers.

The East Riding County Football Association have obtained White Ribbon accreditation, signing up to the campaign prevent violence against women and girls in the East Riding.

As part of the required governance structure, East Riding County FA produced a new Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, which includes a commitment to behaviours and culture that enables the game to be safe and enjoyable for all who work, play and volunteer within the local football community.

Millers Day Services in Beverley has once again shown its community spirit by collecting over 1000 bras throughout June in support of Hull and East Riding (HER) Breast Friends charity.

HER Breast Friends is a proactive, volunteer-led charity based in Hull, dedicated to supporting individuals affected by breast cancer across Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, and North East Lincolnshire.
