Flutter Entertainment, a big player in the gambling and tech industry, is looking for new local Yorkshire talent as they partner with Leeds Trinity University.

The company is launching a digital skills programme at the university, starting with a three-day workshop in September. During this workshop, attendees will gain insider knowledge and get the required tools to launch their digital careers.

Flutter is not the only tech company that is reaching more people through creative initiatives. Companies often use competitions, raffles, giveaways, and workshops to engage with their users. Check out Real Raffle for an example of how tech meets entertainment, where users purchase raffle tickets and stand a chance to win big prizes.

According to Steve Birch, CCO for Sky Betting & Gaming, “Partnering with Leeds Trinity University allows us to match their education know-how with our real-world experience as employers to create this three-day Digital Skills Building Programme.”

Flutter is not just hosting the workshop out of goodwill, though. The company’s talent acquisition team is set to be present during the workshop, which indicates that they might be in the market for new talent. The workshop will be hosted by Flutter and University personnel who will provide insight into IT equipment as well as social media use.

The event is run by Leeds Trinity University but is not exclusively for enrolled students. It is open to anyone in West Yorkshire. It’s expected to attract students from other institutions around the city, as well as individuals with no academic background looking to boost their skillsets or CVs.

It comes as no surprise that Flutter is hosting this event in Leeds. The city has played an important part in the company’s past, and has been home to Sky Betting & Gaming since it was founded, before it was acquired by Flutter Entertainment. At first glance, it appears that the workshop will focus mostly on technology, and not on other aspects of Flutter’s operations like betting or marketing.

Leeds has become a technological mecca in recent years and has played an ongoing role in Flutter’s ambitions, beyond just being home to the Sky Bet headquarters. Flutter scaled up its operations in Leeds in 2021 when it opened a central tech hub in the city. Over 1,000 people are employed at this million-pound investment, and projects at the hub focus on software engineering, research and development, and insights into upcoming trends. Notably, the hub was also the site of significant layoff rumours earlier in 2025.

It therefore comes as a surprise that Flutter’s talent acquisition staff will be at the University workshop in an apparent attempt to attract the brightest minds in tech from around Leeds and further afield.

Despite the layoffs in Leeds, Flutter is one of the largest gambling companies on a global scale, with a £38 billion market cap. It also shows no signs of slowing down, having closed three merger and acquisitions deals this year already. Recently the company secured terms to acquire US gambling company FanDuel, as well as SNAI in Italy and Betnacional in Brazil.
