Sky Giants And Teddy Bears Take Over Bridlington!

Sky Giants And Teddy Bears Take Over Bridlington!

Hold onto your hats, Bridlington—kites are coming back with a vengeance! The 11th Bridlington Kite Festival is set to blow the roof off Sewerby Cliff Top this weekend, May 16–17, with giant inflatable bears, twisting snakes, and sky-high spectacle that will leave your jaw on the sand.

From 10am to 5pm, the skies will explode with color as thousands of spectators witness some of the world’s largest kites battling gravity—and yes, the parachuting teddy bear drops are back, raining plush cuteness on lucky festival-goers below.

Fancy flying a kite yourself? You can grab one from the stalls or join supervised sessions—but be warned, it’s not for the faint-hearted!

Hungry or parched after all that sky drama? The festival’s got you covered: street food trucks, dessert stalls, ice cream vans, and even fairground rides. Dogs on leads are welcome too, so Fido can witness the airborne madness firsthand.

Traffic alert: several roads in Sewerby will be closed, so plan ahead or ride the land train from Sewerby Hall to Bridlington Leisure Centre every half hour—your sky-high adventure awaits.

East Riding Councillor Nick Coultish gushed, “We’re proud to support this festival—thousands will flock to Bridlington and it’s a must-see spectacle on the East Riding coast!”

Organised by Visit East Yorkshire Events Team in partnership with The Northern Kite Group, this festival is one of the biggest annual events in the region, drawing crowds and boosting the local economy.
