There’s always something going on and something to do in the town of Beverley. We’ve got the major annual events like Beverley Pride, which held its biggest and boldest event ever in 2025, and the largest one-day Christmas market in the UK, as well as the always-reliable venues that continue to offer locals a day or night of fun.
On the latter, more recent additions to the slate have certainly risen to prominence. Escape Rooms Beverley and Beverley Breakout Escape Rooms tap into the trend sweeping the country, and The Game Shack is a great go-to for a classic game night. The mainstay for centuries, however, is Beverley Racecourse.
Horse racing has long been a staple of the British entertainment scene. For over 300 years, races in Beverley have upheld this tradition, formalising the sport with the founding of The Jockey Club in 1752. To this day, Beverley Racecourse is a mainstay of the annual race calendar for its regular runs and major meets, continuing to draw in the crowds.
Lots Going on at Beverley Racecourse

As you would assume, the main attraction of Beverley Racecourse is the horse racing. However, despite its historic place in British racing, the venue has decided to keep its cost of entry rather low. The Picnic Enclosure tickets are £10 online or £12 at the gate for the most expensive days, Ladies Day, with regular tickets being just £7 or £8.
Going into the Grandstand and Paddock is also relatively cheap. Saturdays cost £18 or £20, sat concessions tickets are just £14 or £16, and Ladies Day tickets are £20 or £22. Perhaps most impressive is the small increase for the best offering. Premier tickets range from £25 for a regular ticket up to £36 for a Premier Ladies Day ticket.
Beyond the racing, Beverley Racecourse has opened its indoor complex and vast outdoor spaces to cater to private and public events. Music festivals, caravan rallies, team-building days, conventions, fashion shows, workshops, park and ride services, and more continue to use the iconic venue to bring even more entertainment to Beverley.
Horse Racing’s Enduring Appeal in Beverley

A day outside, regardless of the weather, watching several races and even betting on them at the superb Beverley Racecourse complex continues to be incredibly appealing. It’s an entertaining day out, further establishing horse races as a favourite British pastime.
This is even to the extent that people look to enjoy horse racing beyond the tracks themselves. In 2022, the table game Long Shot: The Dice Game was released to tremendous acclaim and very strong reviews. Online, slots have saddled up with the theme. Big Bass: Day at the Races somehow blends the hit fishing slot series with horse racing.
It’s one of many jackpot slots in the extensive series, but it just shows that the developers saw an audience crossover between their hit fishing feature and those who want to play slots with a horse racing theme. Of course, at the racecourse, punters get to experience the real thing and bet on the horses that take their fancy.
While race days happen all the time, the flat season is when Beverley Racecourse truly comes to life. From May to September, four major flat races are always worth attending. The Hilary Needler Trophy and Two Year Old Trophy in the spring, the Charlie Wood Stakes in the summer, and the late summer’s Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes are the headliners of the year here.
There are so many new and modern ways to have a fun day or night out in Beverley, and yet, perhaps the most popular of the bunch is the one that’s been here for centuries.
