East Riding of Yorkshire Council successfully secured a closure order on 139 South Back Lane in Bridlington, on Tuesday 16 December, at Beverley Magistrates Court.
This property had been causing issues in the community for some time, with alleged links to organised crime groups using this property as a base for dealing drugs.
The council’s antisocial behaviour team became aware that this property was causing serious nuisance, following a street surgery by antisocial behaviour officers and a misuse of drugs act warrant at another property by Humberside Police.
Humberside Police Neighbourhood Policing Team provided key information about the property, that enabled the successful closure order.
The council also obtained a closure order for a property at 6 Watts Road, Beverley, following ongoing concerns about nuisance and disorder linked to the address.
After receiving information from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council housing team, and working with Humberside Police, evidence was collected to support the application
The orders mean no one can enter the property for three months, except for officers from the council, police, other emergency services or utility providers.
Anyone else who enters or stays on the premises without a reasonable excuse can be fined, imprisoned or both.
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for communities and public protection said: “No one should have to endure crime and disorderly conduct on a daily basis, and we are dedicated to taking firm action against antisocial behaviour.”
