A Yorkshire headquartered social care group has announced the appointment of Rob Harrison as its new head of estates and health and safety. Rob, who has been with the organisation since 2016, will now lead the estates department and take overall responsibility for the Group’s health and safety operations.
In his new role, Rob will oversee the delivery of maintenance, decoration, grounds care and project works across all HICA sites, as well as ensuring statutory requirements are consistently met. He will now lead a team responsible for ensuring HICA’s homes and services remain safe, modern and welcoming. He will also champion ongoing improvements in health and safety standards across the organisation.
Rob Harrison said: “I’m most looking forward to working alongside the senior team to create environments our people are proud to work in and our residents truly enjoy. Engaging with service users and their families, listening to their needs and making practical health and safety improvements will be incredibly rewarding as we continue to modernise our homes. I am particularly passionate about enhancing our outdoor spaces, creating vibrant and welcoming environments that support wellbeing and quality of life.”
Rob, originally from Bolton and now based in Chorley, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Having started his career in electrical engineering and the entertainment industry, he later joined HICA as a maintenance supervisor at Buckshaw Retirement Village before progressing to estates support manager. Over the last nine years, he has developed his skills in estates management and health and safety, completing qualifications from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
HICA CEO Terry Peel said: “We’re delighted to appoint Rob as our new Head of Estates and Health & Safety. He has already made a significant impact during his time with HICA and his skills, experience and passion for improving our environments will continue to deliver real benefits for our residents, families and colleagues. This is a key role for us as we invest in the future of our homes and services.”
