A large road improvement scheme, to improve the C35 between White Thorn Farm and Smeaton Road, is set to commence. The £345,000 project, undertaken by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s network surfacing team, will start on Monday 1 September. The works will run for up to 3 weeks between 8am and 5pm.

During the construction period, the affected road will be closed to all through traffic. A clearly marked diversion route will be operation via A1079 Arnull Bridge, Main Street, Storking Lane, Ling Lane, Moor Road, Church Road, High Catton Road and Return.

While the road is closed, access to properties within the works area will be maintained.

The carriageway will be structurally patched in preparation for it to be overlaid with a new running surface between White Thorn Farm and Broad Lane Junction.

The section between Broad Lane Junction and Smeaton Road will be structurally patched in preparation for surface dressing in the next financial year.

The resurfacing works will stop near White Thorn Farm, leaving approximately 500 metres of road (up to the A1079) untreated. This is because, as part of the pending planning application for an Anaerobic Digestion Facility off Long Lane, new utility services will need to be installed along this section. Once those connection works are complete, the remaining resurfacing will be scheduled.

Councillor Paul West East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for environment and transport said “We are very grateful for residents’ patience during this period and apologise for the disruption while these essential works are undertaken.”
