A Beverley skincare specialist has been invited to address delegates at a global online conference.

Dr Katerina Steventon, the only UK speaker, and one of six honorary international speakers, will talk about neurocosmetics and psychodermatology at the ‘Scientific Esthetics Symposium’ which takes place in November.

The symposium is the leading global online conference for aesthetic, medical spa and spa professionals. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Elements of Esthetics’ and the programme features curated lectures on the core pillars of education in scientific aesthetics: Cosmetic Chemistry, Applied and Electrical Modalities and Clinical and Dermal Sciences.

Dr Steventon will investigate the innovative field of neurocosmetics and psychodermatology as part of the Clinical and Dermal Sciences pillar.

“Research in psychodermatology indicates that skin health impacts mental well-being. Studies focusing on the “Brain and Skin Connection” cover fields such as psychology, endocrinology, skin neurobiology, skin inflammation, immunology, and pharmacology,” said Dr Steventon.

“The skin-brain axis underscores a complex relationship between the skin and specific formulations aimed at promoting skin health and wellness. We will explore how neurocosmetic products can physiologically influence skin sensory neuron activity, aligning with the wellness trend and positioning them at the cutting edge of skincare innovation.”

The symposium is organised by dermaeducationtv and takes place on November 9th and 10th.

Dr Steventon is a published author with a proven track record of translating skin science into societal impact and commercial solutions. She has pioneered the integration of psychodermatology into personal care, merging skin health with emotional well-being to empower consumers and brands. She promotes facial skincare and touch therapy as a tool for healthy skin and mental well-being.
