The Hull Bus Alliance is encouraging families and groups of friends to travel by bus this August and save money with the launch of a discounted fare.
Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses will be offering the Hull Card Group ticket for just £11, perfect for days out or for those attending the range of events and activities taking place across the city during the summer holidays, including Dino Day and Freedom Festival.
Thanks to funding from the Department for Transport and Hull City Council, the Hull Card Group ticket has been reduced by £3.90 from its usual price of £14.90, which means, for families, kids essentially go free when accompanied by two adults; compared to the price of two Adult Dayriders from either operator.
The discounted ticket is also cheaper than a ride hailing service or taxi for groups of friends when getting out and about.
The Hull Card Group ticket offers travel on both Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses in Hull, for up to six people of any age, and lasts all day.
You can use it as many times as you like on both operators’ services in Hull on the day of purchase, but it can only be used when travelling together.
The group card is not valid on night buses after 11.59pm.
The discounted ticket is available until Sunday 31 August and can be purchased on any of the operators’ services in Hull, with both cash and card payments accepted.
Discounted fares form part of the Hull Bus Alliance’s bus service improvement plan (BSIP) for 2025/2026, with the aim of enhancing bus travel within the city and encouraging passenger growth.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “Working with Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses, the council is keen to provide people with more choice when it comes to making travel decisions.
“With lots of activities and events taking place in the city across August, the discounted Hull Card Group offer means that families or groups of friends can get unlimited travel and save money.
“As a council, our residents have told us how important it is to be able to get around more easily in the city. This promotion will help do just that.”
Ben Gilligan, managing director at East Yorkshire Buses, said: “East Yorkshire Buses is excited to be able to once again support discounted fares for the people of Hull to enjoy cheap and easy travel across the city this summer.
“There are loads of activities for people to enjoy and good value, sustainable travel is a great way to be able to take the stress and hassle out of travel with no need to worry about car parking.”
Matt Cranwell, managing director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “Stagecoach East Midlands are delighted to be able to support this discounted travel option during the summer holidays, offering families or groups of friends (up to six people) the opportunity to travel across Hull for the price of two of our normal Adult Dayriders.
“Once again, we’re pleased to support cost-efficient travel, helping to support environmental goals, and allow freedom of movement across the city and surrounding areas.”
