A scheme to improve a road in Anlaby is due to begin this month.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing £170,000 on an essential road maintenance scheme in Woodland Drive, Anlaby.

Work is due to begin on Monday 18 August and is due to last up to three weeks.

The project will involve resurfacing the road and installing new drainage channels and kerbs to improve surface water drainage.

In order to carry out the work, Woodland Drive will first be closed to through traffic for three days from Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 August between 8am and 5pm.

After that, new drainage channels and kerbs will be installed, together with the replacement of manhole covers and gullies/drain covers.

During this work, where possible, the road will remain open to traffic, however delays can be expected.

The final phase will involve laying a new road surface and replacing the road markings.

This is scheduled to take place on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 September, weather depending, and Woodland Drive will need be closed to through traffic for this.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “The improvements to this road are essential and the local community will benefit when it’s complete.

“We will try to keep any disruption to a minimum and we want to thank residents, businesses and drivers for their patience while we carry out this scheme.”

The work is being carried out as part of the council’s planned highway capital programme.
