Los Angeles-based author Debbie Wastling will visit the East Riding, as part of East Riding Libraries’ author events, for a series of talks and meet and greets.

Debbie Wastling, born and raised in the East Riding, has written three novels, including her latest, The Sutherland Scandals. She will be presenting historical photos and reading from the novel, at local libraries in the East Riding.

Her past novels include The Flying Scotsman Sings, the story of her grandparent’s romance in the 1920s, and its sequel The Soundtrack of Their Lives, covering the heavily bombed war years in Hull, with an opera singer for a mother and a train driver father.

Councillor Nick Coultish, portfolio holder for culture, leisure, and tourism, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Debbie back to the East Riding, and have her speak about her new novel in our libraries.

“We’re delighted to provide such high-quality events at our libraries and mobile libraries, for readers across the county.”
