Tesco’s Beverley store has been pleased to work with the Beverley-based East Yorkshire Foodbank for over 10 years to help provide food to local people in crisis. Together with all Tesco stores in the UK, we hold a winter National Food Collection in partnership with either Trussell Trust or Fareshare.
Since the first collection in 2012, we have collected over 116 million meals throughout our store network. This year’s collection took place in all Tesco large stores from 28th to 30th November.
We also have a permanent collection point in their store for customers to donate to the foodbank. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our customers, in the last three months alone over three thousand meals have been donated.
This year’s winter National Food Collection was a great success. Mandy Thomlinson, manager of East Yorkshire Foodbank said;
“The Tesco Big Weekend is a highlight in our year as Tesco Beverley customers are always generous, thinking of others as Christmas approaches. Customers have donated an absolutely fabulous 49 crates of food over the three days. This will have a huge impact on local people in crisis. As well as the essential food and festive treats, it is a clear sign others are thinking of their plight. Our thanks to all who donated.”
