This year’s Avenues Open Gardens saw over 50 gardens open in the HU5 area in aid of Dove House Hospice and other charities. Taking place on Sundays 30th June and 7th July, the event allowed visitors to enjoy the uniquely interesting gardens and architecture of this much-loved conservation area in Hull.

Each garden had many diverse features for visitors to view, relax in or simply learn from a homeowner as to how they transformed their garden space, whilst many gardens allowed visitors to sample the many refreshments, cakes and entertainment on offer.

Event organiser, Len and Open Garden host, Helene recently visited Dove House Hospice and were delighted to present their team with a cheque for £8,400.

Dan Clipson, Senior Fundraiser at Dove House Hospice said;

“We are incredibly grateful for the kind and continued support from the organisers, hosts and visitors of this year’s Avenues Open Gardens. The annual event is a huge celebration of the HU5 area and shows a real community spirit in support of Dove House Hospice and other local charities. We very much rely on support of this kind from within the community to ensure our services are free and accessible to all those that need them”.
