Residents Efforts Acknowledged With Molescroft Millennium Award

Mauren Morris, a resident of Molescroft, has been honoured with the Molescroft Millennium Award.

The award was presented by the local parish council in Molescroft in acknowledgement of the efforts Mrs Morris puts in to keep the area tidy.

Nominated by Cllr Elaine Aird, Mrs Morris has become just one of nine winners of the award in the past 22 years.

Speaking to HU17.net Cllr Aird said;

“Mrs Morris has shown amazing community spirit over the years tidying up the area near Molescroft shops.”

“A lot of litter is discarded both near the shops and on the green space opposite. Each day this wonderful resident takes it upon herself to clean up ensuring the rest of us benefit from her efforts.”

“Mr Morris regularly keeps an eye on the tidiness of the area around the shops and the bus shelter and is often out and about very early in the morning. The award is for her outstanding contribution to the community.”

“As a parish council, we wanted to acknowledge this and show our appreciation by presenting her with this trophy. Not just on behalf of the council but all of us who live in the area.”

“It is certainly well earned and this lady deserves the credit for making sure this part of Molescroft always looks great.”

Resident Thrilled By Molescroft Millennium Award

Cllr Aird said Mrs Morris was thrilled when she learned she was put forward for the award and quite emotional.

Molescroft Parish Council is going to great lengths to help tackle litter in the community. They would also like to urge people to discard their rubbish responsibly.

Cllr Aird added;

“As a parish council, we have increased the number of litter bins. We would like to encourage everyone to use them.”

“If people can not find a bin then we would politely ask they take their rubbish home and discard it.”

“By doing this we can ensure our environment and general tidiness of Molescroft can be maintained. This is something that is good for all of us.”
