The Wild Whistling Wonders Busking In Beverley To Raise Funds For Ukraine Appeal

Sixth form arts award students from St Anne’s School and Sixth Form College will be busking in Beverley on Tuesday, 22 March in order to raise money for the Ukraine appeal.

The students, all of who have some form of learning disability, have been learning to play the tin whistle and since October have been rehearsing Amazing Grace as well as a number of sea shanties.

They will be performing their music outside the King’s Head in Saturday Market between 1pm and 2pm on Tuesday, 22 March and people are encouraged to pop along, listen to the music as well as donating money for the Ukrainian people displaced by the war.

Before their musical appearance, the students will be showing their families and friends around an exhibition showcasing their artwork over the last year which has been done in conjunction with the Artistic Spectrum.

For the project, the students had to focus on themselves and the exhibition will feature self-portraits, clay sculptures and personalised graphic displays.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, portfolio holder for children and young people’s education, health and wellbeing at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said:

“This is a great opportunity for the students at St Anne’s School and Sixth Form to showcase their musical talents to the people of Beverley.

“I’d urge as many people as possible to go to Saturday Market and listen to them playing as well as making a donation to a very worthy cause.”
