We Move With Tamar & Jo At Unity

Following the hit success of dance and fitness workshops at Unity in Community, Hull-based dance company, Tamar & Jo will be hosting We Move, which includes 4 weekly sessions for anyone living in Hull.

The sessions have been made available free of charge for participants attending at Unity.

Elements will include line dance, circle dance, playing with props and learning simple routines to popular music from different eras.

One half of the lively duo, Jo Ashbridge explains:

“We have been working with Unity for the last few months as part of their social prescribing project, it’s one of our favourite places to work. There is always such a great atmosphere in the community hub, with participants who are all up for a bit of fun, the chance to learn something new and meet people.

“For the forthcoming classes, there is absolutely no previous experience needed. We always ensure the classes are suitable for people of all ages and abilities and for anyone with limited mobility, the movements can also be done seated, we make it work for all.

“Whether you are completely new to dance or see yourself as the next Michael Flatley, these sessions are bound to leave you with a spring in your step and a smile on your face.

We Move runs from Tuesday 29 March for 4 weeks.

“Dancing is great for the mind, body and soul. Tamar & Jo inject a lot of fun into physical exercise – we all really enjoy it. I’ve been known to lead a dance routine or two and we’re always open to new ideas from participants.

“We know that local people are still getting their confidence back after being isolated, so we can guarantee a safe, friendly environment for people of all abilities.”

We Move will be held at Unity in Community, 501 Endike Lane, Hull, HU6 8AQ on Tuesday 29 March, 5, 12 and 19 April, from 10-11am.

The sessions are part of wider project ‘We Move’, funded by Hull City Council, in which Tamar & Jo deliver classes and workshops with organisations around Hull and in their studio at Shirethorn House on Prospect Street.
